Svn'-ta dvlh-ghvlh Mvn'

(Star-Light House)

Overview

Svn'-ta dvlh-ghvlh Mvn' (Star-Light House), is a new initiative division of the non-profit Northwest American Indian Coalition (NAIC) focused on providing advocacy & cultural accessibility for the LGBTQ+ Two-Spirit Oregon indigenous community.

Goals

  1. To establish a funded office for the purposes of collating Oregon & Californian Two-Spirit research both historic & contemporary for the express reasons of providing that vital tradition as a point of advocacy for our indigenous communities.

  2. To establish a permanent "Star-Light House Two-Spirit Advocacy" inquiry line that anyone in the indigenous queer community may contact for questions pertaining to their history, as well as points of advocacy they may be steered to in a more local nature to them.

Specifications

This grass roots project initiative for queer Two-Spirit indigenous peoples advocacy, is specified as a division under the non-profit all indigenous led organization of NAIC. Thus, all operations of the Svn'-ta dvlh-ghvlh Mvn' (Star-Light House) are subject to the leadership & majority votes of the board of NAIC.

Other Considerations

While the Svn'-ta dvlh-ghvlh Mvn' (Star-Light House) is an office for the advocacy of Oregon Two-Spirit traditions; it is of consideration to note that we may not operate in any fashion as a help line for individuals seeking answers to their own personal sexual identities. The extent of advocacy will be restricted to providing documented research, bibliographic references, and further contacts for the advocacy they may be seeking; as well of course those out of office days where we may as a division of NAIC be at events representing & advocating on the aforementioned principles of Svn'-ta dvlh-ghvlh Mvn' (Star-Light House).
