Our Waters)

We have identified and are working to establish the following programs and projects to address the needs of our waters. These programs will encompass a range of programs and projects designed to address the diverse needs of our waters. By integrating traditional ecological knowledge with modern scientific practices, these efforts aim to protect and enhance the health of our rivers, coastal areas, and marine ecosystems for future generations.

  • Objective: Protect and restore our ancestral watersheds to ensure clean and sustainable water sources for our communities and future generations.

    Some developing projects include:

C-SHARP - Curry County Springs and Headwaters Adaptive Restoration and Protection

LAMP-C - Lamprey Assessment and Mitigation Program - Upper Chetco

ATALP - Amino Acids and Traditional Acorn Leaching Program - Supporting Salmon Homecoming

  • Objective: Identify pollution entering our water bodies from mining, forestry, human waste, and other sources. Monitor and test water quality, especially following wildfires and other natural disasters, to ensure the health, recovery and sustainability of our watersheds.

    Some developing projects include:

    Rivers of Life Clean-Up Program

  • Objective: Focuses on the health and sustainability of marine ecosystems, monitoring marine species, habitat restoration, and marine debris removal.

    Some developing projects include:

    Lamprey Conservation Program (LCP)

    Sea Otter Recovery Program (SORP)

    Salmon Restoration Program (SRP)

    Deep Sea Coral Protection (DSC)

    • Wetland Restoration and Carbon Sequestration

    • Pond and Lake Habitat Improvement

    • Beaver Habitat Restoration and Reintroduction

    • Freshwater Biodiversity Monitoring

    • Community Engagement in Wetland Stewardship
