Northwest American Indian Coalition Receives Grant from Wildhorse Foundation to Support Traditional Arts and Regalia Program

Brookings, Oregon – August 30th, 2024 – The Northwest American Indian Coalition (NAIC) is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a generous grant from the Wildhorse Foundation. This funding will be dedicated to our Traditional Arts and Regalia Program, an initiative aimed at preserving and revitalizing the cultural heritage of Native American communities through the creation and teaching of traditional arts and regalia-making.

The Traditional Arts and Regalia Program (Trar) is central to NAIC’s mission of fostering cultural pride and ensuring that the knowledge and skills of regalia-making are passed down to future generations. Through this program, we provide vital resources, materials, and workshops that engage our community in preserving these invaluable traditions.

Katrina Thompson-Upton, Executive Director of NAIC, expressed her gratitude for the grant, stating, "We are honored by the Wildhorse Foundation’s commitment to supporting Native American cultural preservation. This funding will have a significant impact on our efforts to keep traditional arts alive within our community. We are excited to continue our work with renewed energy and passion, thanks to the Foundation’s support."

The Wildhorse Foundation has long been a champion of Native communities, and their investment in the Traditional Arts and Regalia Program reflects their dedication to promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of Native peoples. This grant will enable NAIC to further its mission and continue to provide opportunities for Coastal Dee-ni’ community members to connect with their cultural roots.

As we embark on this important work, NAIC looks forward to sharing the progress and successes of the Traditional Arts and Regalia Program with our community and supporters.
